Makes picking up walnuts quick and easy. The photo shows the result of maybe 20 minutes of work, easily 25-30 lbs. I can't speak to other uses, but for walnuts this works great. I think it would be good for anything firm and round, about golf ball size or larger.Tips: Roll firmly and briskly in one direction only — like you're using a push broom. Quick, long strokes make the nuts already in the cage roll up the back just long enough that new nuts get through before the old ones can escape. Empty the cage when it's about 2/3 full, or the weight of the nuts in the cage starts pushing the ones on the bottom back out.Drawbacks: The head of the tool and telescoping handle keep coming loose. I have to re-tighten everything about every 5 times I empty the cage. Also, doesn't work well for walnuts that have started to turn black. As the husk decomposes and bits fall off, the nuts get stuck and jam the wires open. (It didn't arrive early enough in the season — next year I will start when the walnuts are still all green.)Also doesn't work really well for nuts that have settled down into the grass, so I just nudge them loose with my toe as I go. I'll have to try it for the sycamore seed balls next year. Many plants don't appreciate walnuts' chemical warfare, and I don't appreciate the occasional turned ankle from stepping on them. So the squirrels won't have as many to choose from — still a great purchase.I purchased this item for the sweet gumballs in my yard. It arrived in a box that looked like it had been crushed and beaten. I opened the box and the tool was wrapped in bubble wrap, unscathed, along with two storage bags. Note, this item does not come with the metal "nut dumper" that some others come with. I took it outside to see how it worked and the telescoping handle was very short and I'm only 5' 1", To get any pressure while rolling it to pop the gumballs into the cage, I have to be bent to a 45 degree angle which is not good for my back. The item does work well, but it could be much better. It's not really worthy of the price point.Great, glad I bought it. Picked up a 5 gal. bucket full in minutes. This is so helpful....God Bless the inventor!
