I ADORE this book, and so does my three year old granddaughter. I love everything about it....the colorful illustrations, the story, the gardening information...the flaps aren't just decorative, but illustrate "what's inside", or the stages of growth. If size is a concern, be warned that this book is HUGE, not merely oversize, so check out the dimensions. Don't be put off by the number of pages; there are seven double page spreads, but each is chockfull of information and activities. Even the title page includes the parts of a plant! Honestly, I think it is a perfectly designed book and great for a wide age range. Littles will enjoy opening the flaps and looking at the gorgeous yet simple illustrations.....it is visually stunning! Elementary kids will enjoy the flaps too and be able to read the text. Everyone will learn lots and lots about plants, seasons, and gardens. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I bought three, one for Grammy's house, and two more to donate to local school and community libraries.
